Chairman, CEO, & CMO: Marco V. Canulla, M.D. F.A.C.S.

Canulla is a current member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the AZ chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and the Endocrine Society and American Trauma Society. He previously served on the American Board of Surgery and the State of Arizona Board of Medical Examiners, was a medical professional at the Associates of Arizona, the medical director at Complete Hospice Phoenix, and President and CEO of Medical Professional Associates of Arizona. He was also Maricopa Medical Center’s Department of Surgery Chairman and Program Director for Surgical Residency Training, Director of Trauma at Abrazo West Valley Hospital, and Chief of Medical Staff and the Director of Surgery at Dignity Health Westgate Hospital.

Consultant for Behavioral Health: Don Fowls, M.D.

Fowls background includes positions as the President and CEO of Schaller Anderson Behavioral Health, Inc, and Psychiatric Corporation of America (PCA), A Medical Group, Inc. He received his B.A., Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Highest Distinction in Major at Dartmouth College, Hanover, NewHampshire, and his Medical Doctorate at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC.

Medical Doctors

Director of Urgent Care: Richard Saunders, D.O., F.A.C.P.

Born in Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Saunders graduated with a BS in Business Information Systems and went on to earn his medical degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. He completed an internship and residency in Emergency Medicine in Toledo, OH where he served as Chief Resident. He is a Flight Physician with experience in rotor wing aircraft transport. He was the Assistant Medical Director at a Regional Level 1 Trauma Center and Academic Faculty member for an Emergency Medicine Residency. He was also an Associate Professor at Ohio University. He relocated back to AZ in 2014 to help open St Joseph’s Westgate Hospital. He currently practices Emergency Medicine at St Joseph’s Main and Westgate Campuses. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and sits on multiple administrative committees at the hospitals, including the Medical Executive Committee at Westgate. He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and Arizona College of Emergency Physicians.
